Stanley's place in music history is long secured as a composer and especially as a bassist. This particular performance is great because Stanley's bass is front and center, almost drowning everyone else out. Its awesome.

Chick and Lenny are great. I don't have anything positive to say about the other guys. Quality is not measured in notes per second. I'll stick to bebop and postbop. The modal thing is dull. Weaving a line through an actual chord progression is where it's at.

You missed the point. It isn't about speed, it's about content. I like motivic solos...where the soloist develops ideas in a systematic way. Chick does that all the time. The other guys (especially Stanley) sound like they're running scales up and down a lot of the time. Jaco Pastorius, Jeff Berlin, and Jeff Andrews don't play that way.
