He was offered early release because the NV were hoping for a propaganda win, and he denied it unless everyone put into the camp before him was released. The fact remains: McCain (with Bush) has consistently voted AGAINST the GI bill and all other bipartisan bills created to increase the very insufficient funding for war veterans...even now in time of war. He wants more war..war with Iran and who knows who else..but he won't approve of giving our vets proper medical care when they return home from war in Iraq and Afghanistan. McCain is a hypocrite, a liar.

Didn't mean it like that. It matters what a hero is to you, some would say just joining the military makes you a hero, others think dieing as a soldier makes you a hero, others getting an award makes you a hero, some think you have to do something very courageous and get something like the navy cross or medal of honor to be a hero, and some are even higher than that. In the sense that he was a brave and honorable person that did his service, then yes, he was a hero.

Even in his book, Faith of Our Fathers, McCain himself openly states that he regrets not having had authorization to continue to bomb the most crowded parts of Hanoi. FACT: The vast majority of victims of our bombing campaigns are children. And like Iraq, Vietnam has never posed a security threat to the US..yet 10s of 1000s children continue to die..

See, this is where a lot of people misunderstand the pro-choice movement. Most don't want willy-nilly abortions for everyone. Roe v. Wade's cornerstone is the right to privacy. If we overturn it, that doesn't just mean no abortion, it's the start of a slippery slope that would hurt the constitution. I myself could never get an abortion, but I am pro-choice because of what could happen if we undo Roe.
