I remember seeing this with my dad when I was a kid. Great sci fi classic but VINCENT was my favorite. Great little floating ass kicker who waxes philosophic. He owned STAR's ass at the range too. Totally cool! Post the rest of it dude!

yea way cool movie, I was only 2 when it came out, but when i watch later I was really impressed by it. I loved maximillian!! I thought he was the coolest thing!!!
I also loved how he was killed by vincent at the end. Looking at it now, the special effects are great!!!

Yeah, the movies dark aspects were very novel for Disney at this time, This was one of their first PG movies and the first with mild profanity (damn, hell, etc.) and REAL human deaths. This was the beginning of more adult themed released from Disney. But, at the time, I guess they needed to have some "kiddle" aspects thrown in...the robots immediately come to mind.

I had the cd (disk) of this movie when I was a kid in 1987 or so... Somehow this story was stunning for me: robots and all. Also I kind of never understood the ending.

I know a lot of fanboys complain about the physics in this movie, especially with the explosive decompression from the "meteors." I always just considered Reinhart's "null field" around the ship to be responsible for keeping the Palimino's crew alive when the ship was damaged.

@michael: Yes it was, 2 years later and obviously influenced by Star Wars. A great movie, however, very apocalyptic and a bit untypical for a Disney movie. I also like the music of this movie and the "black hole theme".
