you shouldn't reply to these videos if you don't know what you are talking about. Boxers do lift weights, and do endurance workouts. He is not telling you to body build, but lift weights to make your arms and shoulders and back, and chest ect stronger. If you don't know that then you should pay more attention to these sites and get a clue! In any good boxing club you are doing weights.

Then you are wasting important sparring time and technique work, foot work - bag work and speed work time.
People go to a gym to lift weights not a boxing club that's just bollocks. No boxing club that I have trained in (probably over 50) had us doing weights (total waste of time and money!) You do that in your own free time! If you are doing weights at boxing club other than 3 minutes shadow with 2kg or so, then I suggest you look for a better boxing club lad.

I agree the "BIGGER" you are the slower you get..IMO only use your body weight or do Large amount of REPS but little weight. And that shadow boxing with 3 lbs is a KILLER workout.

weight lifting has different effects depending on the repetitions and the amount of weight that you do Strength lifting: lift with heavy weight so that your only able to do 5-8 reps Less Strength and more size: weight heavy enough so that you only do 8-15 reps Endurance lifting: weight heavy enough so that you do 15-25 reps After 25 reps you will start to degrade your muscle more and more and it will lead to shrinking

for Those idiots who think that weight lifting only makes you bigger you should learn something about weights and actually try lifting yourself. another thing boxers lift weights for endurance and strength and mass the reason they lift for mass is for power. The boxers dont use strength, they use power. Even they mass might make a boxer slower they compensate for it with plyometrics which has a great effect on their speed.

you need to do some research. 5-8 reps are for mass and strength. 8-15 reps is for moderate gains, but mostly steadly advancement so you don't lose ripness but also hard to gain mass. Everything else seems to make sense.

you will only lose it if you do workout with low reps and have alot of mass to start with, then if you start doing the really high ones you will lose mass you built but have better endurance. if you just start off with high reps at first for your workouts you wont gain mass youl gain some muscle of course but your muscles will be more toned and have better endurance which means they will almost always be smaller. your muscles will grow to adapt to how you work them heavy: strong, high: endurance
