I always have noticed a large usage of Sus 2s and 4s in his playing. Its a very unique approach in how he places them. Wayne your the man!

Ya. Adding to that his frequent avoidance of resolution makes for a very "un-triadic" approach which makes his playing sound unconventional and unique. Of course, there are other factors, like his use of open strings, 2nds, 6ths, 7ths, etc.......
Great stuff.

He came up with all the latest wonders at his old age, what we need now is young chaotic jazzmen progressing his ideas. That's progressing, not imitating. Hooha.

He says in the videos, he's not drawn to the language of jazz anymore. As well as saying he used to play like Metheny & Pass.... I don't understand the need for rigid genre names anymore. People ask 'what does it sound like?' - you just can just point them at a youtube clip. Pre-internet, you'd have to rely on some critic clumsily attempting to describe sounds with words, hence genres. His style is how it sounds. Just listen.
Every time I hear ... ( 3 months ago by Saxyman14)
Every time I hear this song it's completely different. it's kind of like that with all his songs actually. and when I say "Different" I dont mean it's like most jazz which is heavily improvised and made up on the spot. I mean, the melody is different. Incredible

However, I am completely for the exploration and progression of this style of improvised music. It's an introspective style as he said. So to be true to the concept of this music, a player has to dig deep and develop their own style with the same spirit in mind. Hopefully, it would something completely different and if an artist is being true to themselves then I think everyone would appreciate that much more.
