The university is great, but the city is even greater. You can receive quality education of the kind in Cambridge, Harvard and a few other universities in the Unites States, but nowhere else can you experience the endless joy and wonder of living in this incredibly fantastic, charming and inspiring city. There will never be a place like Oxford again on the earth.

Well, that depends on what you're looking for. You're right when you say that Oxford is absolutely irreplaceable. However, what's best for one depends on one's expectations. There are some people who would prefer to study in the middle of a megalopolis, and in that case, the charms of a city like Oxford won't do. There are people who are looking for a rural setting. In any case I won't deny you that Oxford seems to be an enchanting and unforgettable place.

As long as you have the required grades just applying. If you show a lot of enthusiasm and motivation about your subject you have a chance of getting a place, but you will also need a bit of luck. I recommend that you fully concentrate on your academic subjects, because unlike many universities in the US, UK unis dont look as much on you extracurricular talents.

True, but firms also "queue up" for graduates from St Andrews, Imperial, Durham, Bristol, Southampton, etc. Oxford and Cambridge just have the "wow factor" because they're so darn hard to get into.
