No homework, just interested in trying this for myself but I don't have any good magnets. Going to the local hobby shop today and see if they have some. Thank you for answering my question!

I found that if you put a screw in a piece of wood, and hold the magnet right above it, that helps to stabilizes the whole spinning process, and makes it work 100x better...

dude, help me,i'm a noob. dose the homopolar motor actually use the battery energy or it just use the polarity ???

>dose the homopolar motor actually use the battery energy or it just use the polarity ??? Yes, it uses energy from the battery. You ***cannot*** use the polarity of magnets to generate energy.

I beg to differ.
hold two magnets together endways either north to north or south to south. They repel. -> Kinetic energy is generated :-)

>hold two magnets together endways either north to north or south to south. They repel. -> Kinetic energy is generated :-) Generating kinetic energy is NOT the same thing as generating energy. Moving two magnets towards each other is like riding a bike uphill-- it takes energy to do it. You get (most of) the energy back when you roll downhill, just like when you let the magnets push back apart. In my thread, we obey the laws of physics, dammit!

No corpo do im

how is the screw staying on there? there is no magnet visible. unless that watch battery looking thing is the magnet. but i dont think that it is strong enough to hold it on there.

>unless that watch battery looking thing is the magnet. Yes, that's the magnet. See the full article, linked in the video description please.
