Au Revoir Simone: new song
Uploaded by: aaronetc
Video Description:
We got to the show about 20 minutes late, and when we walked in it was into the darkest concert venue I have ever seen. Onstage, the three-piece keyboard-and-drum-machine Brooklynites of Au Revoir Simone were in the middle of their set.
Some of what they did was really good and some was just too thin or underdeveloped, which mirrors the quality of their debut EP. I liked this new song, but it did seem to go on a little too long for what it did. I'd be really interested in seeing them again with a live drummer, since most of what
they did with the drum machine could be easily replicated with a simple kit.

I use a Sony Cybershot DSC-P73, with some kind of crappy built-in mic. I'm really happy (and surprised) with how good the sound quality usually is -- the only thing that really causes trouble is extra-heavy bass.

This song is called "A Violent Yet Flammable World" and is on their new album "The Bird of Music" which I *love*. It's good to see them playing live, but they don't quite reach the notes like they do on the album. The harmonies are perfect and haunting on the album, and this song is indescribably beautiful.

Yea I've met them also. They're really genuine. They aren't douche bags, but I think most Indie artist are nice people. For the most part they are making music that they love instead of doing it for the cash like a lot of the mainstreamers do.
