Yes it was the ninth circle. But the devil is also the one who lied to him at the confessional. Claiming that planting the seed was his only way which was a lie. "the only way to get forgiveness is from God". SO that's what he got.

Really really well done! Very excellent film, I really enjoyed it! I really liked how there was a faint glow on everything through out the film. I don't know if this is how you wanted it to be, but I interpreted that as being a little bit of hope from God, despite the how terrible Hell was.
