I listen to Richter live in 1994. He played this Peace so good at this late time. I am impressed. Please, listen to the greath performance of Alborada on Youtube of Dinu Lipatti. Thanks!

Why don't Russians accept it? They can NOT touch French music.
This is too dry and ugly. Nobody beats Perlemuter and Argerich on Ravel. Alicia de Larrocha was magnificent too. This is JUST ugly. His Chopin was great. His Rachmaninoff was astounding, though his Ravel's JUST bad.

Excuse my French. I am not French.

Dommage. A-t-elle joué Miroirs?

LOL! What an idiot! The French composers are some of the oldest in the classical tradition, but I never heard of Russian Renaissance (in a classical sense) music, did you?
But I have heard of Perotin and Josquin, both French.
Greater than Germans? You've GOT to be kidding me? You don't mean that, do you? The Five were scared of Bach. He was FAR beyond them. You're a shame to this world.
I never heard he ... ( 1 month ago by aldebussy)
I never heard he studied with Ravel, but Perlemuter did and that makes him FAR MORE of a reference. He studied his entire rep with Ravel HIMSELF.
And you're saying Richter is a reference for all musicians? I never heard him study with Ravel, did you?
ok, I translate ... ( 1 month ago by GiovanniEMB)
ok, I translate myself if I can do it on English. Richter is one of the greatest pianist performer of the history of music. Miroirs, Valses nobles et sentimentales, Jeux d'eau and some others piano pieces of Debussy are a treasure for all pianists in the entire planet. No a serious musician is thing different to me. For racist arguments I said that Russians love French music and French love Russian music. Especially ending XIX century. This is a fact!

Richter's a great pianist. One of the best. However, almost all of his recordings be it live or in the studio all come in bad quality and sound very thin and dry. But even through the thin and dry quality, Richter still manages to express colour, tone. Simply magic!

Of course Russian pianists can play French (Spanish) music! Alborado is a virtuoso piece, and Richter plays it with the stunning clarity that we expect from him, when he was in his prime...as in this recording. Richter uses very little sustaining pedal, and manages to keep the total architecture of Alborado intact, and very French!

Yes, some amazingly thuggish grimaces and some great playing. I have to say that for me, Lipatti's fabulous range of colour & buoyancy conveys a greater sense of FUN. Gracioso means 'jester' after all...
