You guys are pure stupid!
Prius is a great car and will put its owner's face a smile when you drive it in trafic.. Lets see your BMW in a bumber to bumber trafic! Prius does not even spend a dime in trafic while the BMW is burning your money! Prius is not designed to be pushed to its limits it is not a racing car you idiots!

errr, so change your driving style to match the MPG that a prius can give when it's driving flat out? stunning logic!

oh yer cos this is a fair comparisson! The prius isnt designed to be driven flat out round a track.
And the bmw was slip streaming it all the way around!!!

This was just pure imaginary. Unless they were riding with the emergency brake on, the Prius would get about 42mpg (at about 80mph). He was drafting off the Prius so it was doing about 40% of the work of the BMW I have about 60,000 miles on one. I would agree that the advantage of hybrids disappear at straight out autobahn speeds (I don't live in Germany so no prob). This show regularly pans high performance diesels as well. Of course this show is on the BBC (read British Petroleum) so
They have a point ...( 2 months ago by ctsvrfreak)
They have a point though, it does depend entirely on how you drive it. At 80 mph a Prius will only get about 35 mpg because of the RPM range it will be in, but around town where the electric motor is running everything, you'll be getting 60 mpg. Also, you need to be a lot closer to the car in order to effectively draft it, within a few inches of the bumper. There was a whole car length of space in between the cars, so at those speeds there really wasn't that much drafting going on.

In most cars that is true, but the Prius has a funky stream line. I drive one and you can actually feel when people move into the 1 second slot. The prius was not designed for Nascar and I guess that's the point.
The prius doesn't ...( 2 months ago by kodaiflow1)
The prius doesn't make sense for the EU market anyway. It really is a car for Japan and US where environmental regs virtually ban passenger diesels. The new particulate traps may change part of that but the NOX levels on the VW are still way high. A VW diesel with the Prius CVT would be a nice combination.
Techincally you can ...( 2 months ago by jayizdaman)
Techincally you can feet that 1 second slot in any car, but we dont, due to the fact that most cars are heavier, longer, wider and thus generally more stable your prius is just light and tiny, its not your funky "stream line"

So true!
I have experienced it myself, smal cars are not nesecaraly more economical than bigger ones.
I have driven an Opel (Vauhall) Vectra 1.8 and did 16Km's per liter of fuel! (normal driving style)
I also drove a Seat Marbella (850cc if I'm not mistaken)... 13km per liter!
I had to floor that damns Seat to get anywhere.
The vectra on the other hand (which isn't a particularly powerfull car) only needed a dollop of fuel to get it going.

Doesn't make sense for the EU market? Just because Europe doesn't have as many smog regulations doesn't mean an environmentally friendly car shouldn't be there. If everyone followed the smog laws that the US (or even just California alone) and Japan followed, the air around the world would be a lot cleaner and we wouldn't be so stressed out about global warming.

lol you think more countries should follow and do what the us does? Is the us tryin to give other countries pointers? HAHAHAHAHA, sorry had to laugh at your stupidity. You got us into this mess in the first place. Even with little smog regulations as you say I never see any smog and the air is always fresh, compared to when i was in america, not so much.

That's a really nice car. I really like it. Looks particularly good in silver! Just love BMW M3's!
well the prius has ...( 1 month ago by greggy50)
well the prius has a co2 of 104 and a bmw 318d has a c02 of 123 which is higher however the has a lot more co2 used in its production as it uses part shipped from all over the world and uses many materials that are made from dirty industries and are hard to get rid of i.e. the batteries etc meaning that it has a bigger c02 impact than most diesels.
greggy: I would say ...( 1 month ago by nicholas9999)
greggy: I would say the west is more concerned with oil dependence at the moment. of course, the initial co2 output for the prius may be worse, but over time, it is probably better, and there are probably other solutions to some of the initial production co2 problems. besides that, cars like the bmw are dead, speed and big engines are the last thing we need now.
It would take a lot ...( 1 month ago by greggy50)
It would take a lot of miles for the co2 for the prius to become better like 150,000 miles+ and the 318bmw is built for economy not speed and bmw is not dead the cars it made have excellent economy and co2 emissions for the fuel economy they provide look at the 335d 45mpg 170 CO2 and 0-60 in under 6 secs and the 118d achievable economy of 60mpg+ unlike the prius and 119 CO2 BMW do not have the problem they make some of the most efficent cars for the performance around.
This is not meant ...( 1 month ago by greggy50)
This is not meant to be a serious test it just shows driving style pays a bigger part in economy than the car itself I see many prius doing like 85mpg on the motorway doing probably 30mpg defeating its purpose in the real world you are going to do far better with a diesel the only use for the prius i can see is in London to defeat the congestion charge and apart from that for normal use a diesel is going to beat it i.e vw lupo 75mpg and bmw 118d 63mpg but atually achievable in the real world.

a few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand
