I also heard of Camel through OPETH. And they quickly became one of my inspirations also. Alot of Opeth's material is very inspired by Camel. Expessially the rhythm of alot of their mellow bits.....

I'm proud to say that I met him (and Dawn.) It was WAY after his time with Camel, though. His Watercolours tour, I caught him in Las Vegas.
I still couldn't constrict myself from yelling "CAMEL" thoughout his most excellent solo concert.

I don't know why people are giving you thumbs down on this, because what you say is true. I've given you one up. :) Opeth is greatly inspired by Camel, which is a good thing to be. Camel is a fantastic band. I really, really love them. And they are so under-rated.

Agreed SephynnXx. Camel and Opeth are both brilliant. And wtf is that keyboard solo at around 9:50... WOW! That even beats the guitar solo.
