Slower is not better if you are a basketball, volleyball. What he is doin is more for stretching and getting the muscles and ligaments activated and limber. But when you do real weight, stuff like power cleans and deadlifts are very good power workouts. Explosiveness is what you need

HIT THE WEIGHTS.
Buy the Vertical Jump Bible. Search it up. Air Alert is crap, and there have been articles written about it explaining why you shouldn't do it (muscle fiber conversion, shin splints, knees, muscle imbalances, etc)

stretch, stretch, stretch... plyo exercises are best... also, u gotta have a bit of luck on your side to be born with some nice fast-twitch muscle fibers (like me :P) & the shorter ur limbs are, the easier it is to jump higher... long limbs = slow muscle contraction, short limbs = faster muscle contraction, dont believe me? the best dunkers in the world are usually under 6'3 (look up "TDub", hes 5'9 with a 54" vertical or look up "Air Up There")
