Yep. Most people don't know this, but just before Barbarossa, commercial relations with Germany and the Soviet Union reached an all-time high. They used to say that the British and the French were shot by Germans, but that the bullets were Soviet.

Thank you, but it's all because of ex-KGB officer Oleg Gordievsky's book, which is appropriately named "KGB". He had access to KGB's history books before he defected, so it's probably the most accurate depiction of the system that was the shield and the sword of the party. It is unbelievable to read that Stalin had over a hundred warnings from different (and very loayal) agents, that said that Germany was going to attack the Soviet Union, and he didn't believe them.

its not that the russians were "evil". its just that everyone expected the next world war's major players to be the US and Russia. lets face it, the cold war really was only between the US and Russia with every other country in between them watching with an expression of "oh shit this is gonna blow..."

They were alway planing for it but it would have never worked... there are tomany american civies who would have began gerilla wars against them and the US military would crush a poor military like theirs... they would have used Afganistan tactics and those would have faild in America

lol .. Russia was strong in the cold war, after the communist regime fell they sold a lot of their stuff to arms dealers and other countries willing to buy ( at a very low cost ofc ) and that is why now Russia may be weaker then USA, but back in the day it would of been a hard war, but you never know .. Russia is way too silent these days - i can't even imagine what military stuff they may have hidden

I agree (hard not to when the war on terror has already been going on for a couple years). However, I seriously doubt war with china will occur (For the next 50 years or so) because North America is completely dependent on China. After 50 years from now when the chinese economy has far surpassed the american, then we have ourselves an unpredictable situation, depending on the state of the U.S It's strange how intellectually pleasing it feels to speculate such a disastrous outcome.

True, I mean look at Hong Kong. It puts New York city to shame with its gargantuan enterprises. I would love to see the Communists try to shut them down. I seriously doubt they would because of the money they are making, but if they ever did the country would be kicked in to turmoil. The Communist party of China being as corrupt as it is, the most likely outcome would be them selling out leaving(or in my opinion EXPOSING) China a truly capitalist state.

The situation in Georgia certainly was scary when it first happened, but I wouldn't worry about a world war because of it. I doubt Russia would put itself against the west for a couple of unruly hundred square kilometers, it would be foolish. Georgia is really just a spectator, even on their own land.
