I went and did some volunteer work after this. And believe it or not, there were surveyers allowed in while home owners weren't. For those who don't know...surveyers are pre-contruction personel. So that tells you that someone had already drawn up blueprints and got the green light on their project to build...how so fast though? Maybe because it was lying in await. Guess that sheeds light on the 1 way bus/plane tickets a lot of those people received. They didnt want them to come back.

I would like to thank you for this video. I am an elementary school music teacher. Each year at this time I do a musical tribute to Hurricane Katrina's victims. We use Roger McGuinn's "Wasn't That A Mighty Day," which was actually written about the Great Flood of Galveston, 1900. This year we will do yours with "Wake Me Up When September Ends," the "Amazing Grace" video which is also on YouTube. Kids don't learn about these events anymore in school unless I teach them.

Advice for those in the path of a hurricane: get out of town before the storm hits! And don't blame the government because you were too stupid to leave. That should be the lesson of Katrina.

awesome video!!!...I live in Nova Scotia ,Canada and after Hurricane Katrina my son,who was 10 at the time set up a lemonade stand and sent the money to the people who needed it. NOw we are watching Gustav and I just want to let you know our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who may be in the path of this storm. From watching CNN it looks like people are a lot more prepared. I will be thinking about those residents in the next few days. My thoughts are with you...
