Of course it doesn't compare to Windows Vista !!! As an Example: Vista loads the Dlls into random memory addresses to make it very difficult for hackers to own your Vista system, and UBUNTU/Linux doesn't!!!

Are you talking to me? CS:S is the only game I play, and I don't even play it often. I've given up on gaming, it's just the same over and over again. Linux has started to become my game now ;)
No, it isn't educational, It's just something I do when I want a break, usually I watch Simpsons :P

Heh, actually I was replying to mixindave1's reply towards you (where he claimed CS:S isn't a game along with any games not purchased in a store). For me, ditto everything you said except add in CS 1.6 XD.

ok, my bad.I'll explain:
All OS (Excluding Windows 6) load the functions that are exposed thru the APIs into fixed memory addresses that if we know them in advance we can run the function just by jumping and executing from that memory address. That is what happens in a overflow buffer attack. In Windows 6 the Functions are loaded into random memory addresses each time the system boots making it very difficult for buffer overflow attacks and making Windows 6 one of the most secure OSs.

Same here, but it was Slackware that did for me... My computer hasn't crashed in months! Besides, I take high customization over -over what? Oh, yeah... ability to play more games, maybe- anytime!
On the video: ... ( 6 hours ago by Pocomoi)
On the video: there's an important performance difference. Aero seems quite sluggish, while Beryl/Compiz looks insanely dynamic. Did you use the same computer? Beryl seems to have "cooler" effects as well, and the multiple desktop issue can't be emphasized enough (I couldn't live without at least 3 desktops...) A clear winner, I thought -if this is a competition.
Either way, they're both rather flashy and impressive.

from most of my conversations with more experienced computer people than my self I get the impression that Linux somewhat requires the user to have a brain lol. I think both have their merrits. It really depends on what you're trying to use it for.
Beryl re-merged ... ( 2 hours ago by LordDestros)
Beryl re-merged with the Compiz project some time ago to form Compiz Fusion which is better in terms of both functionality and effects. I don't believe the author recorded the Vista demo first hand as subtitles are present while there are none when the CF demo starts up. However, CF is considered far less resource consuming by most as many have reported to run it fine on 64MB (and even 32MB) graphics cards. The other problem with Aero is the lack of customization which CF provides.

I own a rather old P4 laptop with a 64MB ATI Radeon 9000... do you think it COULD take such pounding? I did manage to get Project Looking Glass to work, albeit not very smoothly. If you say 64MB is enough... is it? Really?
That is true, the ... ( 1 hour ago by Pocomoi)
That is true, the main reason being: you MUST LIKE your computer in order to use Linux. You can't just use it now and then and not worry about its state. You get to care for it, so to speak (perhaps the high degree of customization makes you grow fond of it, since it feels more like "yours.") Those that can't care for a computer and just chat or surf a bit, will prefer Windows. But maybe not Vista... it's not as "easy" as XP.
