"Prevents them from turning into giants??" Stunting the growth of goldfish in an overcrowded tank will kill the fish! =/ For 9 goldfish you should have at least 100 US gallons- 20 to start for one, and 10 extra for each additional fish. I consider it animal abuse to keep that many fish in a tank half the size it should be. ARGH, this makes me angry!!!

20 gallons for one goldfish? that theory is ridiculous, thats aimed to someone who wouldnt even dare to clean the tank even once in its whole lifetime! Besides, getting a 20 gallon tank is pretty expensive you know, have a look at the splish and splash tanks from aqua one, the largest size available is a 7.7 Gallon which i have right now with 1 comet, 1 black moor, 1 koi, 1 rainbowfish and 2 white clouds, and i assure you all that they are very very healthy and happy.

no, that theory isnt ridiculous. experts recommed that amount because goldfish grow to large, eat alot of food and produce alot of waste. if you are keeping the list of fish you say in a 7.7 gallon tank, you are either changing water and cleaning you tank almost everyday, or your fish are in bad shape. one part of being a responsible aquarist is providing the appropriate size tank for the fish being kept, along with proper water conditions.

i so agree with you the 20gal rule is kinda for the people who never clean their tank i have a 20g and i have 3 blk moors and oen gold fantail im putting a vid on ti soon.

Kriltex is right that theory is CRAZY! i would NEVER buy a 20 gallon tank for one FREAKING GOLDFISH! that theory is for people how have so much money that the dont even know what to do with all of it. a filter, hood, lights, gravel, plants,stand all that stuff is expensive for a 20 gallon tank!!!!!

I got rid of that individual of bubble-eye who could'nt see nothing behind that bubbles. Telescope doesn't see much too, i'm feeding the guy by hands.

thanks to all who supported my previous comment, i just have to also add that if you ''''experts''' really have a 20 gallon at home with ONE goldfish, i cant imagine what ur friends and family would say when they walk in and see a huge beautiful tank with hardly ANY life in it at all?
