i doubt it, it would be an unfair advantage is teams were increasing the octane of their fuel, and therefore if it worked it would be illegal. also i cant see how water increases the octane, the water would dilute the fuel and lower the octane per mL

Water injection has ... ( 1 month ago by brokeawd)
Water injection has been used on F1 cars, by Renault in the early 80's when turbos were still legal. Water injection has a couple of positives, Renault used it to lower cylinder temperatures. They found that the power had increased as well. Its also used as a way to slightly raise compression in modern day non F1 real world cars. Its sprayed into the intake like nitrous.

I am curious about what automotive engineer Ross340 thinks is being injected, because it is not water. Read section 5.11.1 of the FIA rules regarding "Engine Intake Air".
Placing the fuel injectors in front of the throttle bodies would give more time for the fuel to disperse prior to entering the cylinder, which is a good thing, considering how quickly the intake cycle occurs on a motor turning 19K rpm. Waiting for you to appear from my monitor and maul me with y

Of course it's not water because the rules don't allow "The injection of any substance into the cylinders other than air and petrol".

What's that? a citation? what do you know, someone in the YouTube community generated an answer not from an anus, but rather from a rule book. Now that you said that i must do this. Pride swallowed. that seems very plausible. i stand corrected.

Actually, the reason the injectors are exposed, is due to the high engine heat. It would melt the injectors. "Then why dont they just use carburation?" you might ask. Well it's just simply unefficiant with the kind of RPM's they run. It would take atleast a 3000cfm carburator to fuel that thing, and i have yet to see one of that size. Although you are parly right, saying that it gives time for the fuel to disperse, but not really the case.
