Video Description:
First in a set of "guitar upgrade" videos. Part 1 looks at "relicing"...or making your guitar look old and beat up. Im working on a Fender Jaguar made in Japan...which has the 'poly', or thick-ass plastic paint. It's much harder to relic, thats why I made the video. If you are looking to do the same, maybe it will help you.

| well maybe masking tape? lots and lots of masking tape. But if the reason you wanna not take it apart is so you can paint the pickguard acurately with the body you can just take everything out of the pickguard and put it on the guitar, then paint it |

| I might be able to help, is it maple(tan) or rosewood(brown) fret board? if its maple sand down frets were the high strings are (High e, b, and a little bit g) to make it look like bends. with the inlays you can cut with an exacto knife little slits away from the inlays. you could also sand the back of your neck down a litle. |

| Either you get it worn down from all of the previous owners. Or, you wear it down (from time) yourself. My guitars get nicks, dents and dings from gigging. they get scratches from my pick from playing. The personality of myself and every previous owner is etched in every bodily defect for all time. "Relicing" a modern instrument is likened to "antiquing" a flat screen! |

| Actually, jazzmasters have a les-paul style 3-way pickup selector switch on the corner. The Jaguar has 3 switches: two for pickup selection, and one for a bass-cut (for that extra twangly surf sound). |

| I don't really see the point of antiquing this yourself... I mean like the others have said it does make you look like a poser. However, I will say though considering the original damage it had. (Which just looked terrible) I think you really gave it some personality and made it beat up with style. If that is your style, that is. |
