"Pachelbel's Canon" is a piece of music written by Johann Pachelbel. Jerry C drew inspiration from the piece and arranged the music for the electric guitar. Calling it 'Canon Rock' because the music was drawn from Pachelbel's music. Doesn't mean it has to follow the canon structure.

Secondly, Pachelbel's Canon is a piece of music. He wrote a piece of music in the canon structure and named it "Pachelbel's Canon".
Jerry C took INSPIRATION from "Pachelbel's Canon" and named it "Canon Rock". Therefore it only needs to sound like it.
