Yeah,Billy is awesome. Saw Dave Holland Quintet last NSJ2007 again, and i can understand why Nate Smith IS the drummer for Dave... It was another "kicksass" performance of the highest quality jazz that is there 2day. For young AND old...

i agree, i wish billy still laid it down with dave. but then again i did see them live with nate and that guy is nuts. adhd meets a drum set.... dave's band is for sure in the top two of my favorite big bands along with jaco pastorius big band. you all should check out billy's group BK Groove if you haven't already.

When I saw him with Larry Carlton at the Blue Note he kept knocking over his high hat. It is a great show watching him work the cymbals, not to mention everything else. Larry called him a drummer with "that East Coast style of playing". I think he was irritated because Billy got as much attention as he did. I thought it wonderful to experience them both. What a treat.

This is a pretty good solo. I don't quite understand the "BEST EVER!" comments though. Don't get me wrong, this guy is much better than me, but some local Baton Rouge unknowns have impressed me much more than this guy (in this video, anyway).

I'm definitely not hating. I even said that in my opinion it was a pretty good solo. I didn't even use the words better than or worse than in my post. And why not compare drummers, or any musicians of that matter? People do it all the time. The largest drum competition in the world hosted by Guitar Center is taking place right now! So please, spare me, oh noble peace keeper!

i dont know y ppl got always compare shit. always gota say this is good this bad and that crap. its sad. wen can some1 just listen to music and just enjoy it. those days r long gone. baton rouge, new york, west coast players all have different styles which is nice. else everything will be boring and it wouldnt be a joy to listen and watch. zach u gota realize that man else u aint gonna get far in anything u do. peace man

Micah, I really meant no harm man. I hope your gig went well. A bit of advice I'd give to you, if you are trying to establish relationships in the music business, is to demonstrate a proficiency in the English language. Also, don't take everything to heart. Acting like a child when you meet opposition will leave a bad impression. You wouldn't want that, because you never know what kind of connections each person you meet can provide you with.
