A guy with his credentials has earned it. Dana white hates Frank more than he loves money. Could you imagine how huge the PPV buyout would be if Frank got a shot at any of those 5 guys especially Henderson, Franklin, or silva would be? Possibly a record breaker...

He can only fight the guys in Elite XC and Strikeforce as long as White is running the UFC. I'm sure he'll end up fighting Rua in the near future with their belts on the line. Don't you want another company involved in mma? Monopolies are horrible for fighting sports...

what has he earned in the last 5 years? NOTHING. and really if there was a marketing story like the Ortiz/K.Shamrock feud it might be worth the time.
Fact is besides the real hardcore of the MMA community, most people don't acknowledge Frank Shamrock as a legitmate fighter. Hell most MMA fans don't acknowledge him as threat to the division because he hasn't beaten anyone worthy. And after Hughes/Gracie most fans expect the new generation fight
er to stomp on the old school contestant.

I really don't care, but honestly if there are too many governing bodies the sport will eventually turn into another mess like Boxing. Besides, UFC is increasing the wages for fighters as the sport grows.

They aren't increasing the wages fast enough though. In 2006 UFC made 53 million MORE than boxing on PPV revenue and the pussy ass boxers still make more money.

I agree that it takes a hardcore MMA fan to know about Frank but a lot of that is because 90% of UFC fans have been watching since the reality show started. But just like all the "upsets" we have seen this year prove; anybody can win in a fight. There is not one 185 lb fighter that is a sure win over Frank.

And if the UFC wants to continue their dominance of the sport, then they better sign Fedor because if Elite XC gets their hands on him then they have a real chance of taking the spotlight away from the UFC...

elite won't get him... bodog would if ufc doesn't. Fedor is motivated primarily on competition, not money. And getting Fedor won't help Elite XC, getting the right talent to fight him is equally important.
Elite XC's primary way to compete with UFC isn't signing talent, its developing talent.

There is no sure win anymore in the MMA. look at the string of upsets recently. Surprising but not really unexpected when you consider the favorites don't take their training as serious as they should.
Frank can beat anyone, as much as anyone else can beat Frank. But that doesn't make him a top tier talent. Fact is he's out of the game way too long and he's fighting guys not near top tier level. That won't help him at a big dance against an elite fighter.

First, I like Boxing and tome its a different venue of competition. Second, Boxing hasn't changed from years ago, except the management of the sport. Boxing has done nothing to help prolong the growth of the sport and every dime they make goes to greedy fighters and promoters. UFC is different, and in may ways, quite the opposite.A bulk of spending goes to talent development and marketing. Shows like TUF give the sport exposure and develop competitve talents that will help the sport grow.

What I want to see though, smaller pay disparity between stars and Journeymen. If Chuck can rake in 3 million for 3-4 fights in a year, and journeymen who fights the same amount of bouts should not see any less than 100k. Yet these guys see about 40k a year or less. Ultimately I think UFC will get their but meanwhile giving the low tier guys another 10-20k a year will help them become better fighters than giving Chuck Liddell another Ferrari.
