Wicca, Voodoo and Satanism have almost nothing in common! There are no sacrifices in Wicca, and Satanism is just a perversion of Christianity. You must believe in the Christian Myths to be a Satanist! But this song is supposed to be about Sully's past life experience in New Orleans where he was cursed by a Vodoun. He says every time he goes back there he gets sick and can't stay in the city very long. Apparently they don't often perform there because of this.

Sully is a 3rd generation Wiccan and they are not Satanists. He liked the film "The Serpent and the Rainbow". He's also a recovering junkie, taking the name Godsmack (slang for heroin) from the AIC song. All these ideas inorporated make up Godsmack.
