Absent an historical musical context or a functioning b.s. detector, it is possible to mistake Adams for being as talented and clever as he thinks he is. But then there are plenty of people who can't tell the difference between plastic flowers and real ones, until they bend over to take a whiff.
But Jim do have some points in his review. I think Ryan writes a lot of average songs, and is basically an idiot on stage.
But he has surely written heartfelt songs, and check out the live version of Touch, Feel and Loose on youtube. His concerts can be amazing, if he is in the mood.

I'm not sure what the review was, and I'm sure that Ryan was somewhat out of line, but as a musician in NYC I know firsthand how these rock critics work. They're sad, lonely men who don't have a shred of talent but they think they've listened to enough records to, "get" music. Fuck Jim Deragotis a
nd fuck rock critics everywhere. Pick up a guitar and see what you come up with; I guarantee it's dogshit.
