Who could ever forget the Ben Vreen dance number with the 2 fems...BACK IN THE '70s..it was the TV Ad for PIPPIN on almost any station you coluld find--and practically all the time...

why would you refer to them as the Manson trio??? I never have heard that and have been involved in two productions of Pippin and have seen another... hmmmmm anyway this was both Fosse and Vereen at their best!!! YEAHHHHHH

it was named the Manson Trio, after Charles Manson, the mass murderer. It's basically calling war mass murder. I have been in two productions of Pippin, as well (one of which I am currently directing) and in BOTH it was called the Manson Trio. But I agree. Ben Vereen is one of my favorite dancers of all time, and Bob Fosse is just incredible

i know why the Manson Trio but why would you use that moniker for a great play and compare them to a bunch of deranged murderers???? I have never ever ever heard that term used.. maybe you people are too young to have realized the impact of that.. if you weren't around in 1969 then maybe it doesn't have the same feel for you.. anyway.. in MY day and when the production was ORIGINALLY done it was the Goodtime Ladies Rag --- good luck on your show

okay, the choreographer who did my version of Pippin who is in her 30s or 40s told us that it is called "The Manson Trio" so next time, get your facts right before you start being ignorant.

As for "Goodtime Ladies Rag" vs. "Manson Trio", I feel that both titles accurately display Fosse's message. 'Goodtime' seems ironic, as are all of these lyrics (the point being that war is by no means glorious). 'Manson Trio' delivers the same message, in a less ironic and perhaps more blunt way.
Either way, Fosse was a master of irony, and a complete genius.
