Inside a FEMA trailer during rain

Video Description:
This is what I have to put up with in our FEMA trailer in New Orleans, La every time it rains. We have called FEMA numerous times about it and they came out and said it's been fixed, but as you can see, it has not. Not only does the rain come in through the door, but it comes in through the light fixture right over my bed and rains on the bed. If it rains in the middle of the night, I get woken up by the rain dripping on my face and body. At this time the bed is soaked as you can see, so I really don't have any place to sleep for the night and it is supposed to rain for a few more hours. And as you can imagine, the rain water and light fixtures DON'T mix, so I have to stay awake to make sure the FEMA trailer doesn't catch fire.

| That was totally unnecessary of you. We have lost our home and everyting in it due to hurricane Katrina, and it's still not finished. I'm trying to do my best in the FEMA trailer, but as you can see, it's a little difficult. |

| You should be thanking God that you have a government that provides you with a FREE place to live for almost 3 years. I wish I had a free home, free electric, free gas, no homeowner's insurance, and probably free food to go with it all. Call me old fashioned but, I work for everything I get and I don't have my hand out saying someone owes me something. It's been 3 years go somewhere, get a job and start a new life and quit your bitching. ps try fixing it yourself. |

| You know, you should really get all your facts before being critical. My husband and I are SICK because as I'm sure you've heard, FEMA has formaldehyde in all of their trailers making people sick. And NOTHING we got is free. Who told you we get free electric, gas and water? We ARE fixing it ourselves because the contractors we hired DID steal our money. No home owners insurance? I don't know where you get off assuming we have it all free. |

| You are welcome to come and take MY fema trailer, no hot water, leaking door and light. A total fire hazard. Live in it for 3years like that, and see how grateful YOU are afterwards. You know NOTHING about my family, and how hard we have worked to get back into our home. And when it's freezing outside, I'd love to see you catch some sleep in a trailer with no HEAT. |

FYI, we also work for everything and I'd like to see you drop everything where you live and find a good job and start over somewhere else. And how the hell do you know that we've had this trailer for 3 years? Do you know how many MONTHS it took for the people here to get their trailers, half of them lived in TENTS for months. |

| Any asshole who hasn't gone through such tragedy as the people of New Orleans had should learn all of the facts about the whole situation before agreeing with other assholes. And just so you know, we have moved back into our home, and the FEMA trailers that people were living in have all been destroyed because they are UNFIT for people to live in. |

| A lot of people just became homeless from tornatoes. They can't get a home/travel trailer because of the complaints from Katrina. Now they have to stay in shelters/tents. Wouldn't you rather be in the trailer than a shelter/tent all this time? |

| You can't depend on the government! This is so typical of government programs... they always screw it up! The more government does, the worse we have it! (Remember this next time you hear a politician promise you something.) They should give the money back to the people who actually care about their friends, family and neighbors, and let them do these things. | I myself am from Poland and grew up VERY poor. I've gone days with no food, and I've also been homeless. I wasn't complaining at all about my FEMA trailer, I was complaining about the MAINTENANCE part of it. I'm sure you wouldn't like to be woken up at night by water dripping on your face from the light above your head. That could have started a fire as well. Maintenance NEVER fixed it and we kept calling them for 2 years until they took the trailer away. |

| Tell me about it. Did you also know that for every application the big guys processed for the road home program, they got paid $80,000 for EACH of them? Why the hell did they get all that money, and the people of New Orleans did NOT? Politics. It's all about politics and the rich getting richer, and the citizens getting SCREWED. We also got ripped off by TWO contractors, which cost us close to $50,000 and the contractor fraud task force CAN'T HELP US. So what are they here for? |

| Thank God we are in our home as of Dec 31, 2007 and they came and picked up the FEMA trailer in February, so we no longer have to deal with it. But now my husband and I have breathing difficulties because of all the formaldehyde in there. |
