I shall stop here ... ( 2 weeks ago by MaximumThrust1)
I shall stop here everything you have said i would have to agree with. I have only built 7 hours and obviously you have built more or just love aviation from the ground. You have a very sound understanding of things. May i ask, do you have experience ?

here is one of the problems an airbus has got... it takes about 1.5 sec until the engines actually react after the pilot has given full throttle...

Any aircraft that size will NOT instantly react to full throttle. The delay is not in the controls it's the mass of the aircraft delaying the input. Besides all this that had nothing to do with the cross-wind they were flying into.

Amen! I'm reading the threads on this video - funny as hell! Most of the jokes sound like pretty experienced pilots...too bad they got their time on a microsoft flight simulator.
I don't have all the numbers as to the actual conditions and jet's x-wind limits, but the landing actually looked pretty good until the PF let the upwind wing come up. Very common with young FO's.

I am a pilot and crosswind landings are extremely difficult. But there is no argument that pilots with that amount of hours should have known to apply right ailerons and touch the right main wheels first to compensate for the crosswind as they applied left rudder.

I had 3 flying lessons when I was 17, 28 years ago ! But the impression I got was that actions like you've described above should have become instinctive in pilots by the time they are qualified to fly this type of aircraft? Sort of like an experienced driver putting on opposite lock in a skid.

Wow! All I can say is thank God the pilot had the good sense to pull up. Despite any potential inexperience in those sorts of, obviously treacherous, landing conditions--the pilot and co-pilot saved many lives on that day.
All of you "arm-chair" pilots--even the most senior captains have encountered situations that tested the limits of their skill and resourcefulness. Regards, Zen Passenger Bumper Sticker: "I just flew Lufthansa and all I got were $hit-stains in my underware"

Interestingly, the German media made a heroein out of the co-pilot, a young woman, who supposedly flew the plane and saved the passenger with this brave maneuver. Two weeks later it was briefly reporteted that she had controll during the approach for landing, but the way more experienced pilot took over when things got out of controll.

Are you aware of how responsive a swept wing is , increasing right aileron imput in their extreme situation, would have been a mistake for a number of reasons...... spot wind checks can often be erroneous as well.

its obious that you don't fly or ever have flown a plane in your life...so you are wrong and touching down the right mains would have prevented that horrible landing.
when you are in ... ( 5 days ago by nightking20086)
when you are in ground effect you use you rudder to alling the longituginal axis with the runway and make sure you touch down the side from which the wind is coming from first to avoid a gust of wind to lift the aircraft and blow it over, which is what happened in this case.

Avoid a comment based on an assumtion. One can only hope that you dont make decisions in the cockpit based on your assumtions.

Actually in this extreme case you would use rudder 'as required' to aid in keeping the Aircraft 'Tracking' Straight, and touch down in a slightly crossed up configuration if nessecary. If the Pilot had applied rudder to keep the long axis inline with centreline, he would have drifted out of view to the left.. Are you just out of Flying school ?

Oh and one more thing Bud... there was no landing, the pilot buggered off to another airport, landed, and went into the lounge bar for a Jack Daniels no ice ....... Straight.
