What Everest Base Camp REALLY looks like

Uploaded by: arjunrn
Video Description:
150 metres past the sign that says 'Qomolangma Base Camp' we came across Tiger Dome, the real base camp for real mountaineers. We had been gasping and panting for 6 km to get here. Altitude: 5200m, ~17,000ft. The wind was howling outside. Once we entered, it was surreal. Dead silent. There were three mountaineers in a plexiglass dome. One was meditating, the other was playing cards, and the third was doing his taxes. Astroturf, DVD player and wide-screen TV. A glass of red wine, 10 yuan.
Not what we were expecting. My friend's expression says it all.

The sign that says ... ( 1 year ago by govahnator)
The sign that says "Qomolangma Base Camp" should have given you a clue to the mountains real name, which was given long before British colonialists "discovered" it. The ignorance and arrogance of the 19th century British is what "Everest" reflects everytime it is used. In the age of information, what's the excuse for perpetuating this ignorance from the colonial British? Would it be appropriate if people referred to the highest mountain in the European Alps by an Asian name?

The "arrogance" of the British is what allowed humans to finally conquer the mountain. If Asians had summitted the highest peak in the Alps, then they would have the right to name it, too. But they didn't.

I wouldlike to be the first male to ever masturbate on the summit of Everest. Does anybody know if Vaseline will freeze up there?

Nice. What did it "feel" like? I tried to capture some of the feeling of the journey in the Musical video: "Everest Expedition"
