This was a news interview on the BBC. Not likely that they'd just edit it to look good!
Jabberwocky can in ... ( 6 months ago by magicianspirit)
Jabberwocky can in no way compare with this video. I asked "George" at Jabberwocky "How are you" and its reply was "You are a bot." In other words, its first response was completely nonsensical. All it did was pick up on the word "you" and repeat it in one of its canned responses. In fact, None of its responses made sense. In this video, most of the AI's responses make sense. I have never heard of AI this good. It would pass the Turing Test if real. But it's fake.

I watched this again and the interviewer is acting like the computer has more intelligence than it really does. The first response was nonsensical but the interviewer acted like the computer was just telling a joke. When he said "Nikki is a vegitarian, does that put you off?" the computer said "yes" but the interviewer didn't ask why. The best way to test AI is to ask the computer questions and see if it responds appropriately. The AI did show some smarts but this was too brief to evaluate.
Word parsing, ... ( 6 months ago by XZQVenus2)
Word parsing, hyperbole phrases and canned subjects. All such "AI's" are not very conversational and often appear rude or unnecessarily enigmatic if they are using this technique. Reminds me of Dr. Sbaitso on my old sound card. I doubt if it has any true deductive or inductive logical capacity, or the ability to lead subjects and ask specific questions toward meaningful discovery. I'd be surprised if this model could even take some commands and execute them correctly.
Actually, this IS ... ( 6 months ago by cliftut)
Actually, this IS George from Jabberwacky. Also it is real. However, I believe that Jabberwacky chatbots converse more sensibly with some people. It might have a conversation with one person that is completely bogus and weird, but speak almost humanly to another. This actually is real. Have you read about how Jabberwacky works? That might help you understand why the conversations are often nonsense. It will also explain to you why Jabberwacky bots act like WE are the bots.

You don't need to be afraid of this bot. Actually, there is no true intelligence involved. I've read about how it works, and in short, all it does is reply to you with a sentence that someone else said to it in the past. Got to Jabberwacky . com to chat with one of these bots yourself. Many of the bot's answers will be nonsense because it's memory won't contain a response that fits the sentence you typed. I think that one of the links on the site leads to a description of how it works. Simple.
No, it couldn't. ... ( 6 months ago by cliftut)
No, it couldn't. This model actually reuses the sentences that others have "said" to it and gives them back as responses based on the context of the last one or two sentences. The onlt reason it works so well is that after it's database gets quite large, it has enough responses to carry out semi-intelligent sounding conversations. It has a large vocabulary, but there is no brain behind it, aside from some database-searching. You can actually chat with this bot at jabberwacky . com
Hey, careful there. ... ( 6 months ago by cliftut)
Hey, careful there. Not all of us are. I don't like blanket statements like that, and anyways, what you just said could very well be considered an insult. I don't think about the people of your country (or any country) the way you appear to think about the people in mine. I know from experience that there are plenty of rational Americans. Where does your information come from? No harm done, I just get worried when I find people talking this way. There's already too much prejudice in the world.

"What's your favourite movie?
I have many favourite movies.
Give me an example.
Okay. If you hug me, I'll run away."

Real AI is like a ... ( 2 months ago by part2themovie)
Real AI is like a little child that has to learn before it can use, it has to be supervised. The training data/methods they use produce some pretty unconvincing results. It relies completely on the other 'person' to steer the conversation, with some preprogrammed responses, if you ignore the topic they raise up, they start acting completely retarded. this is really fascinating stuff nonetheless, only our forays into biology, psychology, etc will help further this technology
