That's not Audrey Hepburn you hear singing all the Eliza songs in the movie. Her voice just wasn't up to it.
Audrey Hepburn was a great actress but not a great singer. In this instance it was bizarre that Julie Andrews didn't get the role.

Stupid studio exces, depriving people of this wonderful music. I mean, I love Audrey Hepburn, but this music is far better than in the film version(Which by the way was sung by Marni Nixon).

i totaally agree that julie should have got film role but i guess coz she was not that well known (at the time) in the U.S.thats why they went for audrey who had made some good films by then.my fav was ROMAN HOLIDAY,cant imagine anyone but audrey and gregory peck in that film...brilliant

i think it's great she didn't get the film role. if she didn't, she wouldn't have been our mary poppins and i don't think ANY other actress could have been better.

I love this song, and Julie Andrews does it the best. However, like amiec said, if she had gotten the role in the film, who knows who would've been Mary Poppins. And let's face it, Julie was born for that role.

Even with the accent it still sounds like Julie Andrews. I wasn't expecting that. lol But we should be happy that she didn't get this role because look at all the other roles she did get that we ADORE! =D I just hope she's happy with how things have played out.

Well, they didn't turn down Julie for the roll, she had just auditioned for that position in the Sound of Music and Lerner and Lowe told her to take it instead if she got it.
