Tommy Emmanuel - Classical Gas (Live)

Uploaded by: guitarjjte
Video Description:
Yet another version of Classical Gas by Tommy. Found this on the internet recently. I'm guessing it was filmed early-mid 2002 at Sierra Nevada, Centre Stage.
Great version this, inluding segments of "Walk Don't Run" by The Ventures and "Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)" by Elton John. Enjoy the master at work!

"The great guitar players" such as?
You sound like a moron who's never picked up a guitar in his life. Guess what? Hold down the third fret on the E string on both an acoustic, and an electric...guess what note it makes? It still makes a "G". You play acoustic and electric the same way, same progressions, same technique. You're stu
pid and you should feel stupid for speaking up. Know what you're talking about before you speak kthxbai

not really!, those are 2 different instrument!! i am at ease with both and after 13 years of eletric and around 5 years of acoustic solo performing, iam telling you, cant compare the two!!!if you play both the same way then you are not exploiting the instrument !!

Yes, yes I can compare them. That's your opinion. It's my opinion that if you think two similarly shaped objects, both having six strings tuned at the same pitch are different; then you are missing the right side of your brain. I'm not going to say anything else, because it'd be tragic to have half of your brain gone.

Um actually if you lose one hemisphere of the brain then the other can compensate for that, you would have to re-learn things but it does not actually affect your intelligence... xx
Can you do 1 and 1/ ... ( 2 weeks ago by arachnid15)
Can you do 1 and 1/2 bends on the acoustic as EASILY on the electric? Or perhaps do pinch harmonics (squelies) on the acoustic EXACTLY THE SAME way you would do it on the electric? I didn't think so... Even the amount of pressure you need to exert on the strings to make a note is different since the electric has thinner strings and employs the use of an amp. Peace.
...Wait, now you're ... ( 1 week ago by kuponutEZA)
...Wait, now you're talking about the gauge of the strings and the action; that has nothing to do with the guitar, just how you adjust it. You're not really sure what you're talking about, are you? Also, you can hook an acoustic up to an amp too, electric/acoustic guitars. Acoustic guitars that have been modified so they can fit into an amp or speaker system. Emanuel is using one in this video.
Seems like your are ... ( 1 week ago by arachnid15)
Seems like your are missing my third point, aside from grossly avoiding my first two points. Yes, I am talking about the gauge of the strings. Acoustic guitars generally employs the use of THICKER strings while electrical guitars generally uses THINNER strings... these differences in the gauge of the strings leads to the differences in the way one can play the instrument (thinner strings means easier bends and pull-offs, less force to hit hammer-ons, and so on) **Continue in next comment
Solid bodied ... ( 1 week ago by arachnid15)
Solid bodied electric guitars cannot be played without an amp while acoustic guitars can. TE is using an amp so that the guitar can be heard across the stage, but let say he's just jamming in the backstage.. he wouldn't need one. If you CAN'T remotely tell the difference of the sound acoustic and electric guitars produce, then seems like you're the one who does not know what you're talking about. If you are learning to play, good luck..Seems like you're going to need it. Peace.

i do think that you can compare the gutiar isntruments, they play the same and songs can be played just as well on each guitar (well i can anyway so i assume others can), but the main difference lies in the sound that comes out of it. yes you can compare them in playing ability shape etc, but trying to compare classical guitar music to electric guitar music is a bit like saying cheese and banana's are the same cos theyre yellow and food. different sounds/styles make these instruments different

I saw him perform a few days ago here in Antwerp (Belgium). This man is truly amazing! He does the neck-thing constantly (at least 8 or 9 times in the show). Defintely something for professionals on professional instruments: don't try this on your cheap Asian knock-off or you'll ruin it.
