Listening to this particular Schostakovich sounds a little like Kabalevsky in it's such a simple theme but still beautiful; a little Khachaturian thrown in for good measure with the snares......(or Kurt Weill)

The scores for the Jazz Suite no. 2 were lost, but they did know that there was a second jazz suite and found this piece, so they automatically assumed it was from the second jazz suite. Recently, they've found the piano scores for the jazz suite and discovered that this was from the Suite for Variety Stage Orchestra.
