The original is very funny, but Gary Beach as 'Hitler' is FAR superior. Plus the additional lyrics to 'Springtime for Hitler' and the sets are better too. I laugh hysterically at the song 'Hail myself' every time I hear it.

i actually saw the german musical live in vienna a few weeks ago, even though most young people laughed, most adults were very angry, some even thought about leavin. i guess, they couldn't handle some of the songs parts; not just because the "hakenkreuz" is illegal in austria and germany. on the other hand, i also have to state that i sometimes thought, that mel brooks has gone too far... honestly, everyone should have know his boundaries, or at least have some.
