There have been many robots build to solve rubiks cubes - often also simple methods using lego mindstorms and so on. The interesting part here was, that the robot uses a nice arm-sidearm enviroment, and precomputes lots of things like a very good solving pattern and missing cube-parts. So to me the most interesting part is the code, not the robot it's self. I'll give it 3* for worth watching.

Actually, it would not be faster with neural network. The algorithm used was propably near optimal (an optimal solution is usually 16-17 moves). Most of the time spent was by the robot itself. Solving with neural network would probably slower.

the first computers were the size of a room and took hours to perform maths calculations, but it developed it what we have today, which is desktop computers that can do things in seconds a human couldnt do in a lifetime. This robot maybe slow now but the more we develop the technology the better it will be. You have to start somewhere
