LL Cool J VS. Canibus | 2nd Round KO The Ripper Strikes Back

Uploaded by: classicrapbattles
Video Description:
LL Cool J released the album 'Phenomenon' in 1997. The second single on the album is "4,3,2,1", which features DMX, Method Man, Redman, and Canibus. LL and Canibus clashed during the production of "4,3,2,1" over a reference Canibus made in the song about LL's microphone tattoo. Canibus: "Yo L is that a mic on your arm? Let me borrow that". LL felt the line was disrespectful and responded on the track: "The symbol on my arm is off limits to challengers, you hold the rusty swords I swing the excalibur" and: "Now let's get back to this mic on my arm - if it ever left my side it'd transform into a time bomb. You don't wanna borrow that, you wanna idolize.
And you don't wanna make me mad ***** you wanna socialize". Canibus ultimately agreed to remove his tattoo reference, but a rivalry had been born.
A short time later Canibus released 'Can-I-Bus?' which included the scorching LL Cool J diss "Second Round K.O." LL Cool J responded with an equally charged diss track called "The Ripper Strikes Back".

"he doesnt get dissed cause evryone saw wat he did to kool moe dees career and Canibuses career"
:O omg! you mean Kool Moe Dee and Canibus can't appeal to teenage suburban girls now!?!? how do they sleep at night?!?! it doesn't matter whether or not they well known by the mainstream - Kool Moe Dee is hailed as one of hip-hop's most skilful originators and Canibus is renowned as one of the st
rongest lyricists out there. the hip-hop community's opinion is that both Dee and Bis won vs LL

99% of your fans don't exist (which contains a lot of truth and is a good punch at LL's crediblity)
99% of your fans don't exist (which doesn't even make any sense if you understand basic mathematics).
while Bis was obviously exaggerating, LL simply threw basic logic out of the window. it also makes the line "you studied my rhyme, then you layed your vocals after mine" even funnier.

but when he(KMD) battled LL his energy and Old school style(and Wack Lyrrics) wasnt good enough to beat LL, but KMD attacked because he heard LL"i need love" and thought he could battle a soft MC and get his Rep up but 20 yrs later and 50 pounds heavier wit no career he knos he lost. (Fryed u Once) and for canibus He won by simply saying "Dont hate me cause im payed hate me cause im everything u wanna be handsome young plus legendary" wat could BIS say bout that(crickets) (Fryed u Twice)

hahah this is funny... LL is clearly nothing to canibus.
the point you seem ... ( 1 week ago by Corallis)
the point you seem to be trying to make is that because LL had the more succesful career, he won the beefs. the person who won the beefs is the person who the hip-hop community received the best, which in both cases was LL's opponent. what can Bis say bout that? well, the fact that LL's been widely seen as a sellout by hip-hop heads for the past 10 years or so and Bis has one of the most devoted fanbases i've ever seen and collabs with both classic and underground legends wud be a place to start
and the fact you ... ( 1 week ago by Corallis)
and the fact you said 'fryed u once' and 'fryed u twice' in your comments makes me seriously call your argumentative skills into question...
P.S.: can LL say he has collaborated with The Firm, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Slick Rick, Ras Kass, Killah Priest (even having supergroup with those last two), Common, Pharaohe Monch and Chino XL?
let's also not ... ( 1 week ago by Corallis)
let's also not forget that Canibus invented a new style of rhyming last year and next year is going to take it to full throttle...
as for Kool Moe Dee - he will always be a legend in the eyes of the hip-hop community, no question. by contrast, while many will still have a fondness for LL's early work, his sellout pop-music artistic direction has certainly tarnished whatever reputation he originally had.
wat does ... ( 1 week ago by melojr92)
wat does collaborations have to do with the artists ability and i never said LL was my fav rapper i said that ppl think jus cause he makes love songs he cant battle and "Jack The Ripper" and "Murdergram" alone ended Kool Moe Dees career
not to be mean but ... ( 1 week ago by melojr92)
not to be mean but canibusses fans are like the fans of the new york knicks, they jus hope that one year they ll come back and do good but alas evry year nothin happens and his fan club is the same way, devoted, i think u meant praying for him to comeback p.s. and i do think LL suks right now but in the 80s, 90s he held his own and defeated all challengers(MC SHan, KMD,Ice T,MC Hammer, and CANIBUS)
umm, since 98, ... ( 1 week ago by Corallis)
umm, since 98, Canibus has made 2000BC, Mic Club and peaked with Rip the Jacker (which got 10/10 on RapReviews and is considered an undergroudn classic). last year, he made one of the better albums of 2007 (For Whom The Beat Tolls). he does not need to 'come back', he is still showing he is a first-class spitter.
and the collabs r important cos all of those ppl are considered legends - they're not exactly going to be working with Bis for publicity, they do it out of respect for his talent.
LL may have been ok ... ( 1 week ago by Corallis)
LL may have been ok in the late eighties, but he has never been a lyrical heavyweight in the same league as contemporaries of his like Rakim, G Rap, Kane, KRS-One, Masta Ace etc. compare any of these bar-for-bar with LL and it's clear who is more talented.
u r going over your statement that LL 'won' cos he had a better mainstream career as if it makes the point more valid if repeated: the hip-hop COMMUNITY and most ARTISTS think LL lost, therefore he lost. it's like who won between 50
GZA.
