At the Saddleback Civil Forum last Saturday, Pastor Rick Warren got to ask both candidates identical questions, although they were during separate interview sessions. What I've done is I've taken each question and answer from both candidates, and have edited them so they will be back-to-back for you. Enjoy!

I don't know wher you get that but according to our standard I live at half the income necessary to qualify a povery stricken in the U.S.
Yet I have two televisions a brand new mahagany bedroom set a twenty five hundred dollar computer and an endless list of other luxuries including a luxury car and a motorcycle. Ever look at what real poverty is?

Yeah I've seen real poverty. Unfortunately it took a natural disaster for the media to bother showing it, but I saw real poverty in New Orleans a couple of years back. Sure as hell didn't see a Republican government giving a "hand up" though to all those poor folk standing on rooftops. Also, if you're trying to claim you have afforded all that stuff you list from state Disability aid then you must think I'm dumber than Bush.

I have come to find that the difference between Rep and Dems when it coems to taxes is simply economics. Its strange to think that Dems label the "RICH" as Reps. Keep in mind, if you tax the rich, the poor lose jobs. Less jobs means less money for the government to tax, and less tax money to giv
e to the special interest groups. Economics 101. Reps do OFFER a hand up. We just dont feel right to TAKE it from someone else.

You think Bush is good and yet you say I don't understand economics. Interesting. Your economics 101 is suitably dumb for such an individual. I don't have all day to sort you out but here's just one point- * If all that matters is employment, as you suggest, then we just officially make the poor slaves, then they can all have jobs! $6.50 an hour is pretty much the same thing. Sorry Rhosey, but that sounds like bullshit to me. If you're going to use your luxury state funded lifestyle as an argument, then tell me what you receive as social security each month, because I'm real curious as to how a country that doesn't have basic affordable health care can manage to keep you so well looked after.

Social security is based on the income you recieved while working. I recieve the maximum benefit rate what that is is public info. Look it up if your so curious.
It also includes Medicare insurance, which is paid by premiums automaticaly taken out of your benefit rate.
By the way, when I was working I was never without health care. It's called simple money management. Make a budget and stick to it and no matter how low your income is in America you may have all you need and then some.

The poor pay 0 taxes. The poor receive taxes. Your taxes. The middle class pays taxes. The wealthy also pay the majority of the taxes. What's really funny is that the over taxation of corps, to enable special interest programs, forces companies to move from the country to remain competitive. This reduces the jobs available and forces the lower end of the middle class into poverty. Fewer taxes to corps = more good jobs More taxes = more freebies until the $ that paid for the freebies runs out.

Look it up - poor and middle income earners pay more tax as a % than the rich. Simple fact. Lolz - corporations are the victims of "special interest programs"? I repeat, those at the poverty level pay no taxes except maybe sales tax. What is your definition of poor? Corporations do not suffer at the hands of the poor. The poor suffer when Corporations suffer. Corporations suffer when they are unable to compete. One of the several reasons that make them less competetive is excessive taxes. To remain profitable they must raise prices on goods and services or lower their costs. They lower costs by firing workers. Either way people end up poorer.

Murray, The percentage income over 150,000 is already much more than those under....so you are definitely incorrect when you say the poor pay more percentage, that is actually incorrect. If you like more taxes for the rich then fine, but just get your facts straight. Both of you stick to the facts, not arguing viewpoints or opinions. Whether you like Bush or not is an opinion. It doesn't matter. The facts are that Obama will raise taxes, McCain won't. Vote for who you want to.

Interesting - McCain says, as a joke, that "rich" is $5 million... then gives his real answer. Democrats jump all over that and say that McCain is out of touch. Obama said, also as a joke, that "rich" is if you have 25 million books sold - and nobody blinks. I don't know how much an author gets per sale, but the average book (that I buy) sells for $15 to $25. Let's assume the author only gets 50 cents. That's still more than $12 million. Does nobody else see this?
