| i was born in 1972 so i should of heard of thomas dolby throughout the 80s, how come ive only just discovered him this week? was i force fed duran duran and stock aitkin and waterman stuff so much that the good artists were drowned out. anyone else found musicians from the past that youve only just found out about? |

| In the original studio recording session the bass was played by a session musician but was later lifted, sampled & completely resequenced by Dolby into the version on the track. That's why it sounds so real but almost humanly impossible. The bass on this live version is also probably sequenced & not live. There's probably not many bass players who can thump out that bass line for 4 mins & without suffering serious blistering. It's probably easier in the long run to let the machines do it. :-) |

| You mean "Fairlight CMI" (Sinclair made those funny rubber keyed computers :-P ). Almost the whole studio track of Hyperactive was composed and played by Dolby on a Fairlight CMI using sampled instruments! That's what always amazed me about this guy - very few people could tell when it was not real instruments / session musicians. Kudos to the musicians who are playing it live on this video, though. It's a hard track to play live and sound so good/tight. |

| fabianlabian.. im interested to know where you grew up??? I grew up in Canada and heard of Dolby. Although there was a great radio station in the 80's in Toronto called CFNY that played all the great british 80's tunes, which in my opinion ruled the 80's music scene!! |
