Sanskrit is the only language available that has the letters and sounds to make up the mantra. No other language can meet the power and energy of the true divine sound.
Transcription Is Sanskrit the only language for Mantras? Chanting mantras means that you will always be protected. Sanskrit has powerful sounds used in recitation of mantras that other languages lack. Sanskrit has 52 vowels and consonants and their combination makes very powerful sounds. It is a
mystery how these powerful sounds were discovered but we are fortunate to have them available to us. A mantra is a combination of sound and this combination is divine. While you chant a mantra everyone around you will be protected. In Sanskrit each letter of the alphabet has a meaning. No other la
nguage has this. This is another reason why a mantra cannot be in any other language. Now, when different sounds with different meanings are put together these sounds affect the mind, thoughts, and the body. A mantra is divine. For example, when a, u and m are combined it becomes AUM. AUM is the roo
t of all languages. A stands for Brahma, U stands for Vishnu, and M for Shiva. AUM is the equivalent of God the divine. Other languages may have rhythm, harmony and poetic sounds. Sanskrit has all of that plus more. Know that when mantras are recited the mind, body, and thoughts are affected. *t

Sorry, but saying ... ( 8 months ago by Herumachis)
Sorry, but saying only mantras can be in Sanskrit is doo doo. Allah in Arabic, Eheieh in Hebrew. Any letter from any language can be a mantra. There just has to be some meaning behind it for you. I like Sator Arepo Opera Rotas while doing pranayama myself. Any God Name can be used to identify with the essence. If you embrace all the traditions you will be much happier and richer than limiting yourself. How about Latin, Gregorian chants, etc. In essence, sorry to say it but that's malarky

I completely agree with the last 2 sentences [thumbs up]. Regardless Sanskrit is 1 of the oldest languages.

you must understand sanskrit, and the chakras before making a mantra. Mantras effect your chakras and will effect everything around you. mantras have two compositions, without one it isn't a real or powerful mantra. it must have a meaning, and an effect on your chakras and everything around you, the vibrations from the words create the effect. nothing is a mantra without aum being recited first. aum is the vibration and sound of creation, so when creating or reciting a mantra recite Aum first

i like this video, Mantras are so mysterious, the language of sanskrit makes these mantras even more mysterious. one syllable in sanskrit can mean hundreds of words in other languages, including english. sanskrit uses every single type of sound that can be made. sanskrit is a very intellectual and complex language to learn, and there are different types. there's classical sanskrit, vedic sanskrit etc....

Sanskrit is a conscious language, a very high formulated language, probably the oldest. I think Sanskrit is the language of the Demi-Gods who imparted knowledge in the planet Earth. Mantras are so powerful, but even more when you have faith and your heart is pure.

The Mantras in Sanskrit has to be precisely chanted without any accents to be effective. I taught myself to speak Bhojpuri a derivative of Prakrit (Raw Sanskrit) language and gained a slight English accent. However it gives me great advantage in reciting Sanskrit Mantras and learning Sanskrit as a language.

where did you read (someone) that Sanskrit has all the sounds possible to make. No it doesn't. The African language !Xhosa is an easy one to point out, but there are many other sounds in other languages not present in Sanskrit. I chant the Gayatri mantra and have fallen in love with it. I am not a Hindu, but my Guru is.lol.
its a bit far ... ( 1 week ago by wjdenny)
its a bit far fetched to say that Sanskrit basically owns the sounds that can be made in our speech. Sanskrit is a language, including its grammar and intelligent meanings.. the sounds themselves are what is important in a mantra, just pure sound-vibration. no meaning. no language. on the other hand, by using Sanskrit (or Latin, or Greek or Hebrew, etc) for mantras can evoke the essence of those traditions, which may be way different people prefer different languages for mantras.
In kundalini yoga( ... ( 1 week ago by magicmeraa)
In kundalini yoga(the mother of all yogas) we say "ong" not om, the difference between reciting mantras and living the yogic science of mantra are very different, the difference between what people use mantras for on a mainstream sense, and those who practice the yoga of mantra. It's easy to use mantra, w/ practice you will learn
gain the benefits, you don't have to know exact pronunciation, it will come to you with practice, try using ong, that is the power of the world we are living in now.
