I have heared other recordings in which the pitch was augmented by a half step. Mr. Karajan did not rewrite the entire symphony in a half step. The augmented pitch is probably a result of age, the recording method, or both.

Guys, you cannot compare today's rap to yesterdays classical. Rappers are considered street poets that don't emphasize too much on the music but more on the words and life's struggles. I love rap.
Classical music will never die. It has too much beauty, counterpoint, fugue, etc. That being said the 5th symphony is the most powerful song I've ever heard. Let's not compare but enjoy music in general...it's truly beautiful.
