There are four recordings of Geddas Postillion-Aria known: First a Live-Tape, made 2 days after his Debut in 1952. Then - again in 1952 - a broadcast commercial. The next was made in 1961 with Conductor Georges Pr
êtrè in french for his album "Gedda a Paris". The last is from 1965, sung in german - and probably the best of them all. This was used for the playback of this video. More about Gedda? Don´t hesitate to contact me! I´ve written a whole biography about him.

I heard this rendition on radio back in the early 70's and adored it. How wonderful to see it used in this video..and I got a charge out of the horses trotting in time. Most enjoyable video..and thanks for sharing it on YOU TUBE.

It was Gedda's 1961 recording that first introduced me to this wonderful piece and to Gedda's voice. It had that special excitement that reminded me of Bjorling's brilliant singing at its best. I recall Rosevange made a great recording of it as well.

I'm a huge fan of Gedda!! My teacher studied with Novikova in NYC the same time that Gedda did and they had back to back lessons. He's told me some wonderful stories. Where can I find your biography?
