Maurice is on drums and the late Minnie Riperton is on background vocals. Mr. White was a salaried studio musician for Chess Records (he played on Billy Stewart's classic hits as well as Fontella Bass' Rescue Me) prior to joining Ramsey's trio in 1966.

yeah... wtf?
this taping (cut) always seemed to bring in the trump card ultra zappin power of the chorus in way too quick or something. Damg cassette of OEM cut I bought disappeared on me 'bout September'84.
Please notify local authorities if you find this cassette. Please!!
This version is comparatively painful.
No offense Rman's management. But can you even sense the aroma of hyperbole anymore?

Actually, this is the ORIGINAL version of the song. Minnie is also singing backgrounds on this cut as well.
When the song was added to her "Come To My Garden" LP, it was Ramsey Lewis (the writer, and performer of both versions) and Charles Stepney's (arranger) idea to keep Minnie's vocals, bringing them to the forefront. Stepney went jazzy and classical in this version, but with Minnie's, he use a Serg io Mendes influenced theme. Both versions are brilliant. What a risk taker!

Charles Stepney wrote the music, arranged the music and produced both versions. Richard Rudolph wrote the lyrics. I know, he was my father and I was there. I happen to love the 4 Hero version. Had to put in my two cents.
