"It's the Economy, stupid", that may not survive even if we beat the money out of Iraq. Yes, Halliburton tried to build the pipeline. Halliburton and other contractors have had to build prisons, bases, and rebuild instead. Iraq is not yet 'won' because the pipelines keep getting torched. You may be an expert in terrorism or economics, but only a President can STOP or WIN a modern war.

There are really only a couple of constituencies that don't want to support Mike Gravel: large corporations (Wall Street), the military, defense contractors, the extremely wealthy, the oil and gas companies, the mass media and religious zealots or fanatics. In other words, those most responsible for the mess we now have. To be fair, Americans are also responsible for not doing more sooner. You can change this.
