thing is Zeppelin and The Who were rock n roll at first especially The Who but they developed and evolved as musicians that it just didn't sound like Rock N' Roll at all Rock n Roll to me is the old stuff like Little RIchard and stuff Chuck Berry ya know?

i have to agree with spez1989 if you think the who aren't pure rock then idk whats wrong with you Zeppelin at times were not pure rock they experimented and some of their songs sounded nothing like rock and it is true that with songs liek I Can't Explain the who can be seen as i guess a mod pop band like The Beatles were in their earlier years although i've never heard the term before

Dude, you are a complete and utter moron. First of all "pop" isn't a genre; it's what is popular at the time. Rock in general covers such a large area that it includes everything from The Beatles to Slipknot and from Metallica to The Offspring. Metal is a sub-genre of rock. Personally I think labeling something and classifying it into a genre is stupid. But The Who were rock pioneers. That is the end of the story. But hey, whatever makes you sleep at night man.

it's too bad the generation of today doesn't understand this music. Though, I am quite thankful for the fact that bands like The Who are still rocking today, to offset all this rap crap and new hard rock crap. It's gives us oldies the good stuff to still live by.
