Yeah, I know. These old flicks are mostly terrible. Progress is all about building on other peoples' ideas, so the best directors of the old days just wouldn't have the knowledge base to work off I guess.

I hate that so much. I mean, how much fuckin sense gives the statement "old movies are shit"? It's really sad how these stupid youngsters walking the earth only like big-budget SFX Hollywood action-comedy movies, that are soulless. The same thing in music, what's not in the charts or is a few years old is "boring". The movies are just over-advertised flicks that just want to make money, nothing else. There are really much fewer great movies today than there used to be.

To me there is a HUGE difference between the phrases "my favorite movie" and "the best film ever made. I know, as pretty much every intelligent being knows, that Citizen Kane is the greatest film ever made, but my favorite film is Schindler's List. For many reasons that are a mystery even to me, that film touches me on a very personal level, whereas I absolutely adore this film, but in a typical way, as simply the greatest film. That isn't to say I couldn't watch this film over and over.
